UVa-Wise to Offer Managing Generations at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Office of Economic Development will offer Managing Generations on Tuesday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, One Partnership Circle, Abingdon, VA.

Today one of the most important “differences” in the workplace is generational. For the first time in history, there are four generations in America’s workforce. Each generation has a unique perspective on how their work life fits in with their personal life and how they approach their colleagues and clients. In particular, the workshop will identify why employers should care about multiple generations in the workplace, the myths about the different generation groups, and their characteristics/personality traits. The workshop also explores the recruitment, training, management, retention and communication issues among the generations.

The cost for the workshop is $89, which includes materials, lunch and refreshments. Pre-registration is required and enrollment is limited. For more information or to register, call (276) 619-4317 or visit www.swcenter.edu/uvawise.
